Advance Care Planning Assistance Available Aug. 22
An advance directive is a written statement, in which you state your choices for health care or name someone to make such choices for you if you become unable to make your own decisions about medical treatment.
The most common advance directives are:
- Medical powers of attorney for health care
- Living wills
Do you have your advance directive completed?
Every person of any age or health status can benefit from completing an advance directive. Not sure where to begin? Legal Aid of Nebraska will be available on Thursday, Aug. 22, to meet with employees.
Methodist Women's Hospital
Thursday, Aug. 22
3 - 6 p.m. in the Women's Hospital cafeteria
Legal Aid of Nebraska will be available for employees to ask questions, gather information and schedule an appointment to draft an advanced care planning document (power of attorney for health care, financial power of attorney, wills, etc.).
As a staff member, if you have a patient who is asking about limiting or stopping their treatment or is beginning to make decisions about what they want or don’t want for their health care, an advance directive would be a great suggestion for them.
