Donor Drive Session Scheduled for Aug. 15
Currently there are more than 113,000 people in the United States waiting for lifesaving organ transplants, and over 400 of them are in Nebraska.
According to Live On Nebraska, 20
people die every day waiting for an
organ transplant. That's over 7,000 per year. One deceased donor can save up
to eight lives, and one tissue donor can save or improve the quality of life for 100 people.
To raise awareness and donor registrations, Live On Nebraska representatives will be on site Aug. 15 at the following locations:
- Methodist Women's Hospital Cafeteria: Thursday, Aug. 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In Nebraska, anyone 16 or older can register as an organ, tissue and eye donor regardless of their health or lifestyle.
Registering as a donor ensures your wishes to donate are carried out. Family consent is not necessary if an individual is registered.
You can register as a donor anytime at LiveOnNebraska.org.
