Free Skin Cancer Screening at Jennie Edmundson June 27
According to the American Cancer Society, cancer
of the skin is by far the most common of all cancers. Melanoma accounts for about 1 percent of skin cancers, but it causes a large majority of skin cancer deaths.
The ACS reports that in 2019:
- About 96,480 new melanomas will be diagnosed
- About 7,230 people are expected to die of melanoma
- The rates of melanoma have been rising for the last 30 years
Early dection is key, which is why Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital is hosting its 23rd annual free skin cancer screening on Thursday, June 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. The screening will be held in the outpatient surgery area (east entrance) at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital.
