The Good Catch Award is designed to recognize staff members committed to patient safety.

This recognition is presented monthly and goes to the department in which the good catch occurred. Nominations for the award are taken from reported variances where a near miss is caught. Those variances are flagged for consideration of this award. A near miss is an incident or event that has occurred that had the potential to cause harm but was caught before it reached the patient.

January 2018

Christina Solt, RN
Med Surg Nurse

The January Good Catch Award goes to Christina Solt, a med surg nurse at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital.

Christina is a med surg nurse and noted the
wrong dose of medication in the Omnicell bin.
The label on the bag read Atorvastatin
20mg/1tab. The tablet in the bag was
Atorvastatin 10mg.

Pharmacy was notified and the correct dose was administered to patient. The wrong dose was sent back to pharmacy.

Great job, Christina, and thank you for your dedication to Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and our patients!
