Eat Right, Live Right, Feel Right

March is National Nutrition Month®, and this
year’s theme is Eat Right, Live Right, Feel Right.

National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices along with developing sound eating and physical activity habits.

Throughout the month of March there will be various activities, which have been organized by Methodist Health System dietitians.

Eat right

Look for the Eat Right logo in participating cafés throughout the system to identify a healthy food option.

Live right

Feel right

In the most recent Community Health Needs Assessment there were 152,107 individuals identified in the Omaha metro area who have low food access (19%). In order to support our community, we will be hosting a food drive. Please bring in nonperishable food items and place them in one of the bins located in participating cafés (Methodist Hospital, Methodist Women's Hospital, Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and 825 Building).

Here is a list of the most needed items:

Soups, canned nuts, hot breakfast cereals, coffee or tea, low-sugar or sugar-free items, gluten-free snacks, granola bars and toaster pastries, dry entrees/food items, jelly, crackers, jerky, travel-size toiletries (soap, toothpaste, shampoo, etc.), new or used backpacks, and small/medium mixing bowls.

Let’s see which location can collect the most!

Celebrate Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day

The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics celebrates Registered Dietitian Nutritionists on Wednesday, March 13, making it a great time to thank the 27 dietitians throughout the Methodist Health System.

There are dietitians at Methodist Hospital, Methodist Women’s Hospital, Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, Methodist Fremont Health, Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center, Methodist Physicians Clinic, Centers for Diabetes & Nutrition Health and Nebraska Methodist College.

This group of experts has 479 combined years of experience in the profession with 275 years dedicated solely to Methodist Health System.

Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are the nation’s food and nutrition experts who work in a variety of settings to improve the health of their patients, clients and community. They translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living. RDNs are a credible source of timely, scientifically-based food and nutrition information.
