New Lost and Found System Aims to Connect People with Property

Published: Feb. 19, 2018

In an effort to connect visitors, patients and staff with their lost items more quickly, Security now implemented a new lost and found system.

The new lost and found system includes a collaboration with Shared Services, and a process on inventorying items found in laundry. The commitment is to have lost items inventoried and logged into our software system within 24 hours (but no later than 48 hours).

This new system does NOT change any departmental processes on variance reporting or returning patient belongings.

With this lost and found system, Security now has the ability to create a lost record and add an email address that will be notified when a match is found with the item and the lost record. They can also ensure that abandoned items are properly donated. Security is currently working with the Disabled American Veterans for donations and seeking an arrangement with law enforcement to donate cell phones for victims of domestic violence.

Moving forward, please call Security to report a lost item. Be ready to provide item details, a description, the last known location, and owner details with contact information. Their goal is to provide you resolution as quickly as possible and to reduce lost and found claims.
