Alzheimer's Walk Is Sept. 24 -- Join the Methodist Team

Methodist Health System is the presenting sponsor of the 2017 Omaha Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, Sept. 25, in Turner Park at Midtown Crossing. The 2-mile walk begins at noon. There is also a 1-mile route option.

Binational Health Week Events Include Women's Health Night at Methodist Jennie Edmundson: Oct. 5

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and Nebraska Methodist College are among the community organizations participating in Binational Health Week events, including Women’s Health Night with free health screenings and educational booths at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital on Oct. 5. The Mobile Diabetes Center from Nebraska Methodist College will provide screenings and education at the Binational Health Week Famly Fair at All Care Health Center in Council Bluffs on Oct. 7. Methodist plays a role in Binational Health Week and numerous other events helping underserved populations as a community benefit.

A HIPAA reminder from the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) following Hurricane Irma, the most intense Atlantic hurricane to strike the U.S. since Katrina in 2005: While the Secretary of HHS has the power to issue a limited waiver of HIPAA sanctions and penalties during a declared emergency, healthcare organizations and their business associates must continue to comply with the HIPAA Security Rule, even during natural disasters, and must ensure appropriate administrative, physical, and technical safeguards are maintained to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of electronic protected health information to prevent unauthorized access and disclosures.
