Twitter Conversation Focuses on Sexual Assault

Social media can be a powerful tool. That's why Methodist held its sixth annual Twitter chat on April 26, hoping to reach a large audience to raise awareness and educate followers on the issues of sexual assault, domenstic violence and

human trafficking.

The event brought together community partners, colleges, law enforcement, survivors, advocates, media and those on the front lines - all raising their voices to make a difference in the Omaha community.

"It's important because no one thinks that they're going to be a victim until they are," said Jen Tran, coordinator of the Methodist SANE program. "Unfortunately once you're a victim you come to the hospital and they don't heal you, you still have things that you have to work through later so that's why our community here is so important because they provide those resources going forward."
