Healthy eating is a necessity for expecting moms

Here's some food for thought for expectant mothers seeking healthy, uncomplicated pregnancies: Eat a healthy, balanced diet.

According to Dr. Lori Platt, OB/GYN at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital, a healthy balanced diet will minimize sugar intake, which decreases the risk of getting diabetes.

"A balanced diet consists of meat, vegetables and fruits, she said.
